Compass plant

All the yellow flowers in this open area are Compass plant (Silphium laciniatum).  At Weiler-Leopold Nature Preserve, Warren County, July 13, 2013.

Star moss and Pincushion moss

The larger darker green mass of moss is star moss (Tortula sp.). With two pincushions of lighter green pincushion moss (Leucobryum sp.).  At Weiler-Leopold Nature Preserve, Warren County.
